More than 1.6 million quintals of sugar has been distributed

Addis Ababa: Nov 24,  2021 (MOTI) In the last four months, 1,600,5362 quintals of imported sugar has been distributed to the public.

According to Gebremeskel Chala, Minister of Trade and Regional Cooperation, 589,532 quintals of domestic production and 417,000 quintals of the 1 million quintals of sugar purchased by the government have been distributed to the public.

He also said that 6,198,797 quintals of sugar has been imported into the country over the past four months through the government-sanctioned French-Valutana Diaspora account to alleviate the country's sugar supply gap. He further added that he will be entering the country in the future.
